Registration
Securing your son's place in the Riika Program
The Riika Program is open to boys aged 13 to 15 years, registered by their father or a male guardian with a signed consent agreement.
Before registering, the candidate should have willingly agreed with his father that he is ready to go for circumcision (Gũtua Itua). Families observing the full culture should also have fulfilled the cultural requirements (Kũhingia), asked the maternal uncle for permission (Kũhoya Irua), and chosen a mũtiiri (mentor) for the boy.
Fees
A non-refundable registration fee of KES 5,000 is paid upon registration to secure a place. The full program fee of KES 45,000, which includes meals and accommodation, is paid before the program begins.
Before camp
Every candidate completes a medical check-up before the program, and parents attend a parent orientation covering the program overview and expectations.
